Euro Cup 2008 - Part B

Ok,i am back on the review of the Euro Cup Part B. Somebody complain that i never put date and time for the matches so... i will not put until the match start!!! hahahahhaaha

Lets start the review from
Group A, (All these are my point of view, doesn't apply to everybody)

Switzerland - From my point of view, Switzerland doesn't have many strong player, Arsenal players like Johan,Senderos, Man city- Fernandes. The rest, I don't know.

Czech Republic - Petre Cech the Chelsea goalkeeper!!!! He should have stay at home and rest and not play in any matches, i already said that for so many million times. He should stay at home and rest!!!!!! Arsenal player Tomas look pretty skinny, i think when the wind come he will most likely fly away. Baros is rather cute thou.

Portugal - Ok!! This is my my my my my my my favourite team. I even got their watch ok!!!
I am very very very X 100 supportive of them. But the man problem is they have ronaldo in their team!!!Damm unlucky! The super duper action guy, always pretend to fall down!!! Lets see they also have Ricardo from Chelsea, Deco( the super attacking guy, always tripping people).

Turkey - erm erm erm erm ....quite a few players from Ferberbahce so uh-uh! no comments.

Group B,

Austria - key player in my euro guide book are Emmanuel pogatetz & Andreaz ivanschitz (this guy known as the Austrian Beckam) i think must be damm HL as you know Beckham like to play solo. LOL. But their goal keeper Alex is not bad looking. haha

Croatia - This country name is darn hard to pronounce. I have a hard time pronouncing it, if i am not wrong its read as Co-roll-sia. Si bei chim. But the main thing is that their jersey is the nicest among all the teams. Its so cool using checker design as the jersey. Special. They have handsome player name Niko. Not Niko Kovac but Niko Kranjcar.

Germany - I think this team is probably the most likable team among all other team. Firstly they have the strong mid fielder Ballack. His eyes are gorgeous. I think always give out electric shock. But whereas his hair is.....! Of course they also have Arsenal Keeper Jens Lehmann. Lukas and Lahm are two most handsome guys out of the team. With handsome guy and good players winnin the Champion is not quite a problem.

Poland - totally no idea about this group. According to book, key players are Euzebiusz and Jacek. I think this is their first time playing in the qualifying rounds, So good luck!

Group C,

Holland - Potential group BUT too bad France is in Group C. ha ha ha x 100. They have Man U keeper San der Van( i know its opposite but i like to call like that). Chelsea player Khalid, Blackburn player - Andre, Liverpool player - Dirk Kuyt, Ryan. Arsenal player- Robin. They also have Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Aston Villa players. So many potential, will it bring them some miracle?

Italy - Fabio the famous handsome guy... :P He is drop dead gorgeous, he make me drip saliva non stop. lol lol lol.Sexy. Key player Andrea Pirlo & Luca toni. I am not so supportive of this group. All the guys in this group look like old man except Fabio.

Romania - Key player Cristian chivu & Adrian Mutu. No idea on this group at all.

France - My fav!!!!!! This is my fav team. Lots of star players in the group. From barcelona, Man u, Arsenal, Roma, AC, Chelsea, Portsmouth, Inter,Bayern. wooooo..!!!!!!! high high high chance of getting champion. Malouda, this guy really has a lot of potential and also i find that he looks like Myanmar guy. I love him!!!!! Also have Evra, Gallas(quite violent player), Anelka( the guy who miss the penalty) and Henry (old already lay, no energy).

Group D,

Greece - So far they have the highest score for the qualifying round. Champions for 2004. How did it happen? i don't know. Key player, Dellas & Karagounis.I am not so in for them so...... no comments either.

Sweden - Key player, Kallstrom & Ibrahimovic. I don't like.

Spain - High energy group. My fav goal keeper Reina from Liverpool. I think he is very pro at goal keeper post. love him love him. 3rd top scorer Torres from Liverpool. But he is too tall lay. But god striker no matter how tall also good mah. Real Madrid Cassllas. LOL. not so handsome. haha x 100. Not forgetting handsome guy Fabregas from Arsenal. So many good player will they stand a chance? Their group look like giraffe lay.

Russia - Lots of Moscow players. Aleksandr handsome handsome lol. But i don't think they can win.

The end.
Come on everybody lets vote who will win in the Euro cup 2008!!!!Please leave tag or comments regarding who you think will win in the Euro cup 2008.

Myanmar aid effort stalls as French ship turns back

MAY 26TH 2008

YANGON, MYANMAR - EFFORTS to deliver life-saving aid to Myanmar's cyclone victims hit trouble on Monday as France turned back a ship laden with supplies, citing its shock at the resistance of Yangon's military regime.

The military vessel carrying 1,000 tonnes of aid for the battered Irrawaddy Delta was instead sent to Thailand to be handed to the World Food Programme for distribution, the French defence and foreign ministries said in a statement.

The move was a further blow to the international community's attempts to help desperate survivors still short of food, water and shelter more than three weeks after Cyclone Nargis hit the country.

The French ship, the Mistral, had been poised to deliver enough aid to help 100,000 people.
The ministries said they were 'particularly shocked that the Myanmar authorities did not accept that 1,000 tonnes of humanitarian aid... could not be directly unloaded and distributed.'
'Nothing... can justify the victims of a catastrophe being denied the basic right to the necessary aid,' the ministerial statement said late on Sunday.

At a conference in Yangon earlier, UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon had led calls for Myanmar to make good on a pledge to let outsiders in, with 2.4 million victims needing help and many at risk of dying from hunger or disease.

Officials put the best possible spin on a day-long meeting of representatives from dozens of nations, aid agencies and the secretive military regime, which has enraged world opinion with its handling of the catastrophe.
Mr Ban called the event an 'important exercise for building greater trust and cooperation' between Myanmar and the outside world, although participants said it was unclear how much money had actually been pledged.
But the French statement appeared to cast further doubt on the promises of Myanmar's ruling generals to accept help and speed up the relief effort.
Relief effort still needed

The May 2-3 cyclone has left more than 133,000 dead or missing and access to devastated areas has been extremely limited by Myanmar's secretive generals.
In comments echoed by most nations at Sunday's donors conference, Mr Ban rejected Myanmar's insistence that the emergency relief phase was over and that it was now time to focus on rebuilding the delta.
'I expect the relief effort will run for several months, probably six months at least, as we feed and care for those who have lost everything,' Mr Ban said to open the meeting, which was attended by Myanmar's Prime Minister Thein Sein.

'I ask all of us to keep our eye firmly on the immediate objective - saving lives.'
Making the first visit of a UN secretary general to Myanmar for more than four decades, Mr Ban held talks with secretive junta leader Than Shwe on Friday - and announced that the general had agreed to let in all foreign aid workers.
At Sunday's conference PM Thein Sein said Myanmar would accept foreign workers, but appeared to link their admission with rebuilding work in particular.
'For those groups who are interested in rehabilitation and reconstruction, my government is ready to accept them, in accordance with our priorities and the extent of work that needs to be done,' he said.
'We will consider allowing them if they wish to engage in rehabilitation and reconstruction work.'
Upon his return to Thailand from Yangon late on Sunday, Mr Ban told reporters: 'I sincerely hope they will honour their commitment.'

Once known as Burma and now one of the most isolated countries on the planet, Myanmar has often reneged on its commitments - but nations at the conference warned they would push the junta to get aid workers in.
The storm washed away entire villages and ruined crucial rice fields that are essential to feed the impoverished nation. The European Union's top aid official has already warned there could be a famine ahead.
The United Nations and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the co-hosts of the donor conference, have approval to coordinate an expanded aid operation. -- AFP

Touching Stories.

I have to blog about the china earthquake in this post because i am really very very touched by all the people.

If you are in Singapore, you will know that they are raising funds for the China earthquake on the television today.
All the pictures, all the stories, really touched my heart.
No matter how hard and tough your heart is when you see the pictures, listen to their stories, your heart will melt.
Really melt and cry.
The old and young suffering.
It really pains my heart.

There was one story which really make me cry like mad.
The man was struck under the rubble mat for 72 hours. He manage to stay alive for 72 hours for rescuer workers to safe him.
He told the soldiers :" i must stay alive because i want to see my unborn son"
So the soldier pass him the phone to talk to his wife.
After 6 more hours the soldier manage to pull him out.
On the way to hospital, he stopped breathing.
Everybody try to wake him up, everybody try to shake him as hard as possible.
But they could not wake him up anymore.
: ..(

He stay for 72 hours why didn't he stay a little longer?
: ..(
Life is so fragile.

Another old woman said :" how is my future? where is my home? What am i suppose to do?"

: .. (

Life is...

For all those living.
Please be strong.

Life is a fragile little thing, please handle it with care.

Life is a fragile little thing .
So many disasters, so short a period of time.
So many lives taken, so many heroes given.
So many troubles happen, so little aid driven.
So many angels eaten, so many devils hidden.
This poem is dedicated to all those heroes who stand up bravely during times of need.
I truly salute to you from the bottom of my heart.
Heroes are given,
From angels in heaven.
Often, we know that life is short.
But we don't usually put in the effort to make the best of our life.
Not until trouble comes,
Not until sacrifices are made.
Then only will we human wake up from the greed, wealth the many many temptations that cause our fellow humans beings suffering.
Proverb " Always put others before self", how many of us can actually carry out the meaning in this proverb.
We always blame others because of "this and that", but never look upon our self for the mistakes.
I used to believe in god.
I use to believe that praying will solve everything.
I am wrong.
After sometime i realise, god only help those who help themselves.
God do not make you a hero from zero.
God only make you a hero if try to be one.
I used to think, God will help me in everything that i wanted, needed.
I was wrong again.
I learnt that, everything i wanted and needed have to be earn by myself, by my both hands.
Not god's hand.
I was very angry with God because i think he made everything so unfair.
Including life.
He/She make so many obstacles for a simple human. Like me.
But now i learnt that all the obstacles made me grow up.
From a girl, into a lady and maybe a women next time.
It made me wiser.
Life is very tiring, if you want it to be tiring.
Life is happy if you want it to be happy.
Life is in your own hand.
So i look to the bright side of life.
And enjoy being happy, laughing my days away.
Always think of the many less fortunate people and trying comparing yourself with them.
People suffering everyday.
Living without food, without family, without home.
Who is the one that has unfair life ?
God is indeed fair after all.
I was a happy little girl.
Until the Myanmar Cyclone came.
I thought back.
Why was God behaving like that?
Why is God making so many people suffer?
Why is God taking back so many angels?
I asked myself many times.
I couldn't find the answer.
Everyday the news will only be fill with increasing death, increasing homeless,
All the sad and heart wrenching news.
All the news that people don't want it to appear.
Until one day,
I read the news :" Burmese are helping out their own survivors instead of waiting for the aid to even reach"
"Monks not eating to let the old and children eat"
These heroes touched me.
They touched me deeply. And i truly respect them for their courage and determination.
And i knew the answer.
God wanted to test the people in the country.
He/She wanted to see for himself who are the heroes and who are the devils.
God wanted everybody to contribute their kindness.
God wanted everybody to treasure the people they love.
God made them learn, the more united they are, they stronger they will stand.
God.
I am sadden by the amount of lives that the disaster have taken.
The amount of angels that have gone to heaven.
But you show us who our actual heroes are.
The hidden angels.
Who are the ones that will stand up for the people in need.
God make us learn from mistakes.
A person that never make mistakes never learns.

R Zarni

He is my new ♥!!!!
So dashing and handsome!!!!

I am learning how to sing this song currently.

R Zarni is really handsome, his tatto is damm cool.

But i still love Myogyi the best :P

KASON FULL MOON, BUDDHA DAY

The Fullmoon Day of Kason Is a day of significance. It was an auspicious day on which Gotama Buddha attained Enlightenment. Gotama Buddha was born, He attained enlightenment and entered Mahapari-Nibbana on this day.

It was also the day on which, as a recluse in Gotama Buddha’s previous existence he, Sumedha was blessed by the prophecy of Depankara Buddha that, after the complete fulfillment of “paramis” needed for Buddha-hood he would also become a Buddha one day in this world-cycle.

The Fullmoon Day of Kason is marked by the waterpouring ceremony at the Maha-Bodhi tree, the holy Bodhi tree (Fiscua religiosa) at the foot of which Gotama Buddha attained Buddhahood. Divotees also poured water there to make sure it did not die of drought during summer, especially in Kason, the middle of the hot season, and the custom has survived to the present day.

In reverence of the Lord Buddha and up-holding the traditions, the Buddhists, young and old, will be observing the Fullmoon Day of Kason by pouring water at the Maha-Bodhi tree, taking Sabbath , doing meritorious deeds, paying homage at the pagodas and paying obeisance to the monks.

Buddhist devotees of Myanmar have been able to do meritorious deeds with peace of mind and delight in view of flourishing of the Sasana throughout the country.

Thanks to earnest efforts of the government and immense generosity of the wellwishers, there have emerged a great number of occasions and incidents for promotion and propagation of Theravada Buddhism across the country for years. For example, with the contribution of the government and donation of the well-wishers, new pagodas and religious edifices were constructed and Shwehtidaw,Hangetmyantandaw and Seinbudaw hoisted atop pagodas across the country. Moreover, Provisions were donated to a host of Kyaungtaiks and nunneries, and religious tiles conferred of outstanding Buddhist monks at grand ceremonies.

With Theravada Buddhism flourishing in the country the Fullmoon Day o Kason will be observed by the Buddhist devotes with full of essence upholding the fine traditions.

HAPPY KASON!

U.N. chief: Myanmar OKs foreign helicopters

YANGON, Myanmar - The United Nations has received permission from Myanmar's government to operate nine helicopters to bring relief supplies to victims of Cyclone Nargis, U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said Tuesday.

"We have received government permission to operate nine WFP (World Food Program) helicopters, which will allow us to reach areas that have so far been largely inaccessible," Ban told reporters in New York before departing on a mission to Myanmar.

His announcement was not immediately confirmed by Myanmar officials.

"I believe further similar moves will follow, including expediting the visas of relief workers seeking to enter the country," he said. "I'm confident that emergency relief efforts can be scaled up quickly."

Mourning beginsThe country began three days of mourning for the 134,000 dead and missing.
Flags at government offices, schools and large hotels in Myanmar were lowered to half-staff. But shops were open as usual and many people in Yangon said they had little idea of what the government-announced mourning entailed.

Some residents frustrated with the junta's response to the disaster called it a symbolic gesture that lacked sincerity.
"If they are sincere, they should welcome help from everyone," said Zin Moe, 32, who sells clothes. "They are not letting in aid quickly enough, and people are angry."
The military-led regime said Monday it would allow its Asian neighbors to oversee distribution of foreign relief to cyclone survivors.
But most foreign aid workers still were banned early Tuesday from the storm-devastated area and the United Nations said only a fraction of the survivors had received some form of international assistance.

A senior U.S. diplomat said that Myanmar's military-led government will be responsible if thousands of desperate cyclone survivors die because foreign aid and disaster workers were barred from the country.

Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Scot Marciel told lawmakers in Washington that the generals running Myanmar cannot manage the distribution of aid needed to help people facing disease, malnutrition and exposure to the elements.
U.N. Undersecretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs John Holmes is in Myanmar to persuade its government to allow in more international assistance and pave the way for a visit this week by Ban.

Holmes told reporters Tuesday that Ban will meet with Senior Gen. Than Shwe, the head of the ruling junta. Myanmar officials were not immediately available to confirm the meeting plan.
Ban said he's hoping to press the country's military leaders for speedy relief for cyclone victims.
He told reporters before heading to the airport on Tuesday that "this is a critical moment for Myanmar."

Survivors face disease, malnutritionHe said there is a functioning relief program in place but so far it has been able to reach only 25 percent of the people in need. He said he welcomed the government's "recent flexibility" in allowing Asian relief workers under the auspices of the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations to begin distributing international aid supplies.
The secretary-general is scheduled to arrive in Myanmar on Thursday morning.

He is expected to inspect the areas devastated by the storm as well as talk with Myanmar officials. On Sunday, he is supposed to attend a meeting of aid donors in Yangon.

The cyclone's official death toll stands at about 78,000, with 56,000 more people missing. Conditions in the low-lying Irrawaddy delta remain precarious, with survivors facing disease, malnutrition and exposure to the elements.

A Myanmar doctor returning from the delta said refugees in the bigger towns were receiving some aid and medical care but expressed concern for those in outlying villages.
Villagers were still trickling into the towns because they had received no aid, she said.

"We saw one young girl yesterday. Her lips and her nails were blue. She looked like she was going to die," Tin Sein said on Tuesday. "People who haven't eaten or drunk clean water and also completely exposed to the rains and storm."

"I don't think anyone has a good picture right now of the overall situation," she said. "People give different facts and figures. It's a major problem."

State-owned media reported Tuesday that the head of thejunta met victims in the Irrawaddy delta Monday, saying the regime had "promptly carried out rescue and rehabilitation tasks."
The general said the government has spent more than $45.5 million on relief operations, has met immediate needs such as food, shelter and health care and is moving into the reconstruction phase.

'Long way to go'Foreign aid agencies and the United Nations were less upbeat. They said only some 500,000 of as many as 2.4 million storm victims have received some form of international assistance.
"I think there is still a long way to go to improve the relief efforts, to speed it up and to make sure that all the people who are in need are reached," said Holmes, the U.N. undersecretary-general for humanitarian affairs. "There is still a major effort to be mounted on the relief side, which has to go on for some three to six months."
Sean Keogh, a trauma doctor with the group who returned recently from Myanmar, told the British Broadcasting Corp. on Tuesday that "no country can really cope with that kind of emergency on their own."
He noted that even the United States had accepted outside help after Hurricane Katrina.

In Singapore, an emergency meeting of foreign ministers from the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations agreed to set up an ASEAN-led task force for redistributing foreign aid.
Myanmar agreed to open its doors to medical teams from all ASEAN countries, Singapore Foreign Minister George Yeo said. ASEAN member Thailand already has sent teams, as have non-ASEAN neighbors India and China.

Myanmar, one of the world's poorest nations, claims losses from the disaster exceeded $10 billion. But it may have problems funding a recovery.
World Bank Managing Director Juan Jose Daboub said Tuesday the bank will not give any financial aid or loans because Myanmar has failed to repay its debts for a decade.

Daboub said the World Bank is providing technical support to assess damage in Myanmar and help plan economic reconstruction.

"But the bank cannot legally provide any (financial) resources to Myanmar because it is in arrears with the bank since 1998," he said in Singapore.

CYCLONE VCDS ARE SELLING FASTER THAN...

THE VCDs have gruesome images of battered and bloated dead bodies left behind by Cyclone Nargis. Seen in newspapers and on TV programmes around the world, these are visuals which are not so easily accessible in Myanmar.

Ordinary citizens have turned to their usual underground sources of information: Overseas satellite broadcasts, along with websites blocked by the Myanmar government but available with some minor technicaltricks.

So it is not much of a surprise that when evidence of the cyclone was suppressed, it would emerge on the black-market video circuit there.

Hidden behind a stack of pornographic video discs, Yangon street vendor Mg Zaw has even more sought-after contraband: Footage of the destruction caused by the cyclone, which cut a deadly path through Myanmar's heartland two weeks ago.

People are generally barred from travelling to the area and the state television monopoly mostly has shown more upbeat scenes of the country's military leaders handing out aid.
Mr Mg Zaw, who runs a video disc stall in central Yangon, said he started hawking the storm videos just two days after Nargis struck.

'People buy them because they are interested in seeing what happened out there,' he said, eyes warily scanning for police conducting checks.

The discs are packaged in slim plastic holders with paper covers featuring grainy montages of bloated corpses floating in flood waters.
In one video, stray dogs sniff the ground near the corpse of a woman.
The videos are being bought either out of curiosity or, some say, as a way of coping with the tragedy, which left about 78,000 people dead and another 55,000 missing, according to the official government count. The Red Cross and the UN expect the death toll to soar well above 100,000.

Mr Khin Soe, 28, who has been told that his parents and three siblings died in the disaster, bought one of the videos Saturday afternoon.

'I want to know what happened, that's why I am buying this,' he said.
Each disc is priced at 500 kyat (about 70cents). Mr Mg Zaw said he makes 100kyat per disc. Some hawkers said they have been selling about 100 copies a day. -AP.

Interesting news from AsiaOne.

Body parts in different parts of Klang Valley .

Happened in malaysia not myanmar. Nothing to do with Myanmar i just post this randomly.

PETALING JAYA, MALAYSIA: First, it was the discovery of a leg cut off at the knee on Sunday, yesterday it was the headless torso of a woman.

Police here now fear that they may be on the hunt for more body parts.
The torso was discovered near a monsoon drain in Sunway Mentari along the Federal Highway.
It was found by a motorcyclist, who stopped to rest at the motorcycle lane leading towards Subang Jaya at 2.40pm yesterday.

Police are now trying to determine if the torso and the right leg discovered in Salak South on Sunday belonged to the same person.

OCPD Asst Comm Arjunaidi Mohd said police found several shirts, a skirt and blouse piled on top of the torso, believed to have been dumped there less than 24 hours before. "We believe the victim, aged between 20 and 30, was murdered elsewhere and dumped in the bushes near the monsoon drain. The victim has yet to be identified as no personal documents were found.
"The head, arms and legs were cleanly cut off and there is no other injury mark on the body," he said, adding that the remains were sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for a DNA test.

ACP Arjunaidi said police were also waiting for test results to establish if the victim was raped.
The right leg was found in a rubbish bin in Taman Salak South by Alam Flora workers at a shoplot area.

This piece-by-piece discovery of body parts is reminiscent of the sensational Lily Chua murder case in the early 1990s where her spurned lover Gan Wei Seng cut her up into 11 pieces.
Gan, a music teacher and lay preacher, wrapped them in newspapers, placed them in plastic bags and dumped them in Jalan Langgak Tunku in Kuala Lumpur.

He was jailed 12 years in 1994 after pleading guilty to manslaughter but was released after eight years for good behaviour. -The Star, ANN

Myanmar agrees to aid effort led by ASEAN
*good news lay, everybody smile please.

MYANMAR agreed at an emergency regional meeting here Monday to let its Southeast Asian neighbours coordinate foreign assistance for cyclone victims, Singapore Foreign Minister George Yeo said.

The Myanmar government estimates losses from the disaster at more than 10 billion US dollars (S$13.66 billion), Mr Yeo told journalists after meeting counterparts from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean), including Myanmar's Nyan Win.

'The foreign ministers have agreed to establish an Asean-led coordinating mechanism' for the assistance effort, Mr Yeo said.

Asean will work with the United Nations to hold an 'international pledging conference' in Myanmar's main city Yangon on May 25 to pool aid for victims of the disaster, the Singapore minister said.

Myanmar also agreed to accept medical teams from all Asean countries to take part in the relief efforts, he added.

*finally!! tsk tsk tsk.

On the other hand,

Myanmar begins three days of mourning

YANGON - MYANMAR launched three days of official mourning on Tuesday for more than 133,000 people left dead or missing by Cyclone Nargis, lowering national flags to half mast at 9.00am (10.30am Singapore time).

The mourning period is one of the first demonstrations of public grief since the tropical storm ravaged swathes of this impoverished nation 18 days ago, leaving about 2.4 million survivors desperately in need of aid.

The reclusive junta leader Than Shwe spent a second consecutive day on Monday touring the disaster zone, venturing into the hardest-hit regions of the Irrawaddy Delta for the first time.

Until Sunday, the senior general had not made a public appearance or remark about the disaster

Quote

"The scariest thing is not seeing a dead body, its seeing how an alive person slowly dies and wither away."

A little happy news.

When devastating disaster happens, everybody true colour will be shown.
The good people, the bad people.
True colour, true nature of everybody.
Whose the good ones and whose the bad one.

A little good news.
Local heroes step in to help cyclone victims

* I am very proud of all these myanmar people. In times of need they stand up for their own people.

YANGON, Myanmar - From shopkeepers handing out free rice porridge to medical students caring for the sick, ordinary people in Myanmar are stepping in to help cyclone victims as the military regime severely restricts international aid.
* I am really touched by their actions. I wish everbody would do the same.

Taxi drivers, factory owners, college students, teachers and other Yangon residents — many of whom lost their own homes — are among those organizing grueling trips into the Irrawaddy delta, the hardest-hit region.
"They are true humanitarian heroes," said Bridget Gardner, International Red Cross representative in Myanmar, after touring an area where volunteers were giving first aid to the injured.
*Yes yes yes i strongly agree. All these humans are angels!!!
Even their homes are gone, they still stand up to help others!!!!!!
There are really is great people alive.
I really saluate to them.
Hero.
They are taking up collections at businesses and donating food, clothes and water. Some who are too poor to give money or supplies are offering their labor to help clear debris and rebuild villages leveled by the May 3 cyclone.

"We feel sympathetic to the cyclone victims and want to help them in our own way," said Daw Mya Win, who runs a small grocery in a northern Yangon suburb where many bamboo shanty houses were destroyed.

She cooks for victims daily The 49-year-old woman cooks rice porridge every day to feed anyone who comes. She also sends pots of the thick viscous mixture of rice, water and seasonings to some of the thousands of homeless who have sought shelter in the country's Buddhist monasteries.

Others have taken refuge in Catholic churches where priests and nuns are caring for the hungry and homeless.

"We totally depend on private donations every day for our daily meals," said Aung Min, a 53-year-old man who has been staying at the Thaung Gyi monastery with his wife and three children since Cyclone Nargis struck.
Junta restricts aidMore than 66,000 people are dead or missing, according to government figures, with fears the death toll will surpass 100,000, according to U.N. and Red Cross estimates. The U.N. says up to 2 million survivors are still in need of emergency aid. Many victims continue to struggle daily for food and clean water amid drenching rains and threats of disease.

The military junta has restricted most foreign aid workers from entering Myanmar, formerly called Burma. And most Westerners lucky enough to get visas have been confined to Yangon — hours away from the most devastated areas deep in the Irrawaddy delta.
* See the differences??

Even the efforts by Myanmar volunteers face obstacles. Many are stopped at military checkpoints and told to leave their supplies for soldiers to distribute.
Rather than risking the aid never reaching the people who need it, some turn back. Others try to negotiate by offering a portion of the goods in exchange for passage.

'I am so angry'Zaw Htin, one of many volunteer medical students, returned from a frustrating trip Wednesday to one of the government refugee centers in the devastated delta town of Bogalay.
"I am so angry. They don't want us to stay and talk to people. (The authorities) want us to leave the supplies with them for distribution," she said.

"But how can I treat the injured if I can't talk to them? How do we administer medical care if we can't touch them, feel their pulse or give them advice?"

"Their courage is moving," said Tim Costello, president of World Vision-Australia, who was stuck in Yangon after the government denied him permission to visit the delta. "There's no doubt (the volunteers) have responded magnificently.
There's effectively no help from the military."
Some international aid agencies are working through these webs themselves to keep their supplies moving and carrying out basic relief work, quickly training volunteers before dispatching them to the delta.

Burmese-run aid groups also are playing an integral role in organizing and distributing supplies to survivors, as are businessmen. Some have offered diesel at subsidized prices to volunteers traveling to the delta, while others donate rice, water and water purification equipment. One shipping company offered to hand over two boats for floating clinics.

'We're just gonna do this'Some Burmese volunteers unable to find cars or fuel were visiting hard-hit slums on the outskirts of Yangon. College students went door-to-door handing out a few pennies to families for rice and gave sweets to impoverished children. Members of a hiking team from Yangon University gathered donations to take to the delta.

"Since I don't have the means to provide cash or kind, I contribute labor by helping distribute relief goods," said Nyi Nyi, a 21-year-old university student. "Whenever we distribute rice and clothing, I can see the faces of the cyclone victims light up. It is very rewarding to see them smile."
After enduring decades of poverty and government oppression, Myanmar's people are known for their resilience, having learned to depend on each other from day to day — especially in times of crisis.

"There's no question, people here are of Buddhist and Christian ethic and they have decided, 'We're just gonna do this,'" Costello said.
I LOVE ALL THESE PEOPLE !!! THEY ARE REALLY THE ANGELS.
